Early Life and Education

Kevin was born on July 6th, 1979 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since his father was a drug addict who spent most of Kevin’s childhood in jail, he had to be raised by his mother.

He graduated from George Washington High School and then went to the Community College of Philadelphia. Briefly thereafter, he dropped out of college and moved to New York City.

Shortly after that he moved to Massachusetts and started working as a salesman in an athletic shoe store.

One night Kevin performed at a Philadelphia comedy club. The audience welcomed him into their hearts and he was hooked. He realised that comedy was perhaps his thing and decided to quit his job as a shoe salesman to pursue a career in comedy.

Kevin Hart Career

He started doing comedy shows as “Lil’ Kev the B**tard” in Philadelphia, but the audience there didn’t receive him well. He was trying to be everybody and didn’t know what to do. At one point he was trying to imitate comedians like Chris Tucker. That wasn’t received well by the audience.

After learning that he needed to be himself and present to his audience with his own set of skills instead of imitating others, he was welcomed by many. That was perhaps the turning point in his career as a comedian, and eventually led him to success.

Hart became known after his guest appearance in Undeclared, an American sitcom TV Show. Then, a few years later, he made his debut in the film industry with the movie, Paper Soldiers

Throughout his career on the big screen, Kevin has worked with some of the biggest and well-established actors including Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Ice Cube, Nick Jonas, Tiffany Haddish and more.

As we’ve mentioned earlier, Kevin’s career in comedy started with the release of his first stand up album titled “I’m a Grown Little Man” in 2009. It was followed by Seriously Funny, and two featured theatrical releases: Laugh at My Pain, and Let Me Explain.

“Laugh at My Pain” was a big break for Kevin. It got him nominated for and won him the best actor award of BET Awards, 2012. The following album: Let Me Explain, also won him two awards.
